Tappets and tappet holes
(1) Inspect the riding face
of
each tappet for wear,
contact pattern and crack. Replace defective
tappets.
(2) Check the fit
of
the tappet in the hole against the
repair limit, indicated below.
If
the limit is
exceeded, then replace the tappet.
If
the hole is
worn down so much as to provide an excessive
radial clearance even with a new tappet, the
crankcase must be replaced.
