2-2 Inspection

Clean the thennostat, place

in a hot-water

tub,

and

test it for thennostatic action

heating the tub to

raise the water temperature. The valve should start

opening

76.5 ± 2°C (169.7 ±

3.6°F)

and be fully

open

± 2°C (194 ±

3.6°F)

with a valve lift

not

less than 9 mm (0.35 in.). A

thennostat

whose valve fails

operate in this manner in the test must be replaced

with a new one.

3. Water pump

The water

pump

centrifugal type. Its bearings are

lubricated

engine oil fed from the main gallery

within the crankcase.

The

impeller

threadedly mounted

pump

shaft.
